About M.M.B. (Mirte) Horstink

Introduction

The main focus of my PhD is to improve antibiotic treatment of critically ill patients with sepsis by optimizing their dosing regimen. We will perform a randomized controlled trial (BULLSEYE) to investigate the effect of higher dosing of beta-lactam antibiotics on clinical outcomes.  

Education and career

Started studying Medicine at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam in 2016. Graduated in 2023 as a Medical Doctor at the same university. Worked as a resident (not in training) at the Intensive care unit of the Albert Schweitzer Hospital. 

Teaching activities

Teaching activities include:

  • Education for medical and nursing students, mostly regarding polypharmacy;
  • Supervision of research projects for master students.
