About Ir. H. (Hanneke) Crielaard

Introduction

Hanneke Crielaard is a PhD student with a background in biomechanics. During her master she performed both experimental work in the field of skin biomechanics and numerical work in the cardiovascular biomechanics field. Currently, she is working on her PhD in which she is dissecting the atherosclerotic cap composition in relation to mechanical properties and cap failure mode. She makes use of tissue engineered constructs to mimic the composition and mechanical behavior of human caps. Specifically, she focusses on the role of (local) strain in atherosclerotic cap rupture.
